Design subscription FAQs

1. How does the collaboration process work?

Once your subscription is active. Ideally we should have an onboarding first. The aim is for me to understad your business and your current marketing plans including its challenges and goals. It's common for marketers to have quarterly plans that can be broken down into monthly and weekly tasks. Often, campaigns that you don't think need design support actually do. Having an overview of your marketing campaign helps me anticipate and efficiently manage sudden, urgent needs. Therefore, understanding your business and brand is critical for our collaboration. Please share any existing design materials you have, such as brand guidelines, graphic standards manuals, design language systems, or even just some samples of previous design work.

Requests, feedback and revisions will be managed through our ticketing system (Trello). Additional tools such as FigJam or Figma links may be used in special cases. Just like having an in-house designer, there's no limit to the number of revisions you can make - we aim to get things done efficiently.

You'll get a link to your own Designmergency wiki with all the important information.

2. Why is there a limit on video duration to maximum 15 seconds?

The attention span on major platforms lasts about 3 seconds. Traditional TV commercials (TVCs) typically run for 30 seconds, but modern performance marketing channels often require shorter versions—down to 15 or even 5 seconds—to effectively capture audience attention. That's why I set limits on video duration, except for those who choose our on-demand design services.

Just let me know if you plan to run a 30 seconds TVC. Based on my experience this will take a lot of back and fort because you surely want to make your media investment worth.

3. What's the level of customization for email and newsletter designs?

Depending on your ESP/CRM tool plan, full customization is possible. If you have an existing design language system, it can be adapted for email to ensure brand consistency. However, email technology has limitations, especially regarding fonts and dark mode appearance, which we cannot fully control. Please note that I don't provide an ESP/CRM tool. I will design the email interface within your own tool, which will require you to share your login information with me.

4. How flexible is your turnaround time?

The standard delivery time for the Marketer First Aid Design Kit subscription is around 48 hours. For Marketer Design Care subscription and hourly on-demand design service is usually within 24 hours or less, depending on my availability. By proactively sharing your marketing plan, even when design support may not seem necessary, you can get things done faster. Often a design task can take as little as 5 minutes, but the feedback loop and revisions are what takes time. This is usually what gets designers (including me) frustrated. By keeping me informed, I can anticipate what you need and confirm everything you may overlook, resulting in faster delivery when urgent needs arise. My former colleague said I can pick up the phone before it even rings. You can leverage my natural gift to anticipate unexpected challenges 💪

5. Can the unused credits roll over to the next month?

Unfortunately no. Designmergency is a solo agency and carrying over work from one month to the next will severely impact other clients. With my methods, I will help you plan a campaign and prepare some creative assets in advance during your active subscription and while you still have creative credits. As you get closer to your campaign, you may want to consider using our on-demand design service to finalize everything.

6. What happens if we exceed the monthly hour limit for brainstorming and focus work?

Exceeding the monthly hour limit will result in an additional charge of 89€ per hour. Unfortunately, we don't allow rollover time as it could impact scheduling with other clients.

7. Can you work with my existing MarTech stack?

Yes, but also depends on each cases. For landing pages powered by Landingi, you and your team can manage and integrate the tool in your MarTech ecosystem directly. For pages built using Slay Sites and Slay Cards, integration options are limited.

For organic and paid social media and some other analytics tool, you can also invite me to your dashboard or simply "borrow" me the credentials if you want me to look at your data closely.

8. How do you handle data security and privacy?

At Designmergency, I prioritize data security and privacy because I understand the importance of protecting your and your business' sensitive information and that of your customers. I ensure the highest standards of data protection by using secure platforms with end-to-end encryption for data transmission and storage. I comply with major data protection regulations, such as GDPR, and allow you to securely control access to your data.

9. What is your approach to performance marketing assets for niche markets?

Niche markets often require experimentation, especially if you're the only player in the market. I base my design decision on best practices and the latest channel trends and guidelines. Any data and insights that you can provide will strengthen my hypotheses and guide my design decisions.

10. How do you ensure that AI-generated images are in line with our brand guidelines?

To be frank, many startups lack practical brand guidelines. But I understand your concern and your vision for how you want to present yourself. Current AI technology allows for the creation of hyper-realistic images, but with limitations. As an AI enthusiast, I am constantly refining my prompt engineering skills and combining them using the traditional digital imaging skills, a.k.a. the magic of Photoshop, to produce AI-generated images that are in line with your brand.

11. What does UX copywriting include?

I usually provide content guideline optimized for conversion such as persuasive headlines, body copy, and calls to action. For content-heavy mediums like landing pages, I will provide a content map for each sections. Remember, UX copy is a guide, not the final content copy. Even if you want to use the exact copy I provided you, you and your team have to rephrase them to match your brand tonality.

12. Are there any long-term contract obligations?

No, you can cancel your subscription at any time. It would be great if you could provide 7 days notice before your next billing cycle. You can also cancel right away just like my exes when they dumped me without notice. I can understand, but it's not nice mentally...

13. How do you measure and track design success?

"OMG, the design is amazing, that's why I bought your product"...said no customer ever...
Unlike product design, where a single element can have a significant impact on the user experience, communication design works differently. It involves both verbal stimulation (the message) and visual stimulation (the imagery, color composition, etc.), as well as the promotional aspect of marketing communication. Therefore, marketing communication requires a mix of verbal (your messaging) and visual cues (the creative) to be truly engaging. If you can provide me with information about your previous campaigns, their performance and the design assets used, I can establish KPIs to measure success. These can range from likes and comments to link clicks, CPA, CPL or any other metric that is relevant to you. However, without insight from you, measuring the success of design efforts is challenging.

14. What tools do you use and do we get the original files?

I use a variety of tools to bring your creative vision to life, but for efficiency's sake, I prefer Figma for static assets, a variety of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, various video editors, plus native advertising tools such as AdCreativa and Offeo. With my experience, the tools don't matter anymore. Even if you ask me to design a poster in Microsoft Word, I won't be mad at you. Learn more about my tool landscape here (link)

The original files is available upon request. It's important to specify your needs up front. For example, if you request a static banner without mentioning the need for the original file, I'll choose the tool that allows me to work most efficiently, such as Figma. However, if you find out later that you need the design in a Photoshop or Canva format, there may be an additional charge due to the extra work required to convert the file.

To avoid unexpected fees, please be clear in your brief if a specific tool such as Photoshop is required and if you need access to the original files. This will allow me to tailor my process to your needs from the start, ensuring smooth delivery and complete satisfaction with the final deliverable.

15. Wow...you offer a lot! where is the fine print?

You're being paranoid, bestie! but I see where you're coming from. That tiny little star you look for on every promotion, right? honestly, there is no fine print. These are my skills and I want to share them with the world. My mentality has been changing for a while now, and just designing pretty things is not serving my purpose anymore.

My goal is to be a part of your success and the success of your company or business. Being on that journey with you is a learning opportunity for me as an entrepreneur. Of course, if one day I throw a party with my billionaire bestie Elon, you'll be invited ;)

Drop me a line if you have any questions I haven't covered on the FAQ page.
