Launching soon: Design subscriptions

Familiar with Design Joy? I'd say bro Brett Williams is the father of design subscriptions. His innovative approach has inspired many freelance designers, including myself, to think strategically about scaling our services. A big kudos to him! Design Joy inspires Designmergency’s subscription model but mine is specifically tailored to meet marketing and business needs. Utilizing the Design Thinking method, I focus on business-driven design a.k.a. design that drives conversion 💰💸

I'm still finalizing the infrastructure and hoping to get some alpha clients for a one-month trial phase. You can get a special price for this test purpose and in return I'd like to get some feedback from you; to fill in a questionnaire and a 30 minute feedback call at the end of the service.

Why should you be my Alpha clients? 1. You believe design is a powerful business tool. 2. I'm on a bigger mission beyond changing my own life, but many other lives, not just designers, but every talented human being like you. 3. You believe in me.

FAQs

1. Why not just hire a full-time designer or work with a well-established design agency?

Let me ask you back: what is your average hiring time? In my experience, it took a design team around 6 months to hire the right designer who is fitting for the marketing team. Design specialization in marketing (marketing design) is fairly rare but it's gaining popularity. It's still pretty hard to find a designer who isn't bored by business metrics and doesn't have a strong ego for aesthetics.

FYI, I have encountered clients who stopped working with a design agency due to the nature of multi-layer communication where you don't have the flexibility to talk to your designer directly and deal with the time-consuming revision rounds. Skip the headache and get straight to the good stuff by working with me directly.

I understand the nature of marketer's work. That's why I came up with Designmergency. Designmergency is my word intevention for design+emergency+agency. On top of that, I'm a nerd. I'm always up to date with the latest marketing and tech trends :P

2. What makes your service different from other design agencies?

You'll work directly with me. No middleman, no hassle. Unlike big agencies, I understand the startup and tech industry, including your day-to-day challenges of needing a partner who is both agile and approachable. I also understand that things can get messy, so does your brief. As your partner, I can help you identify the missing piece that will contribute to a smooth collaboration process and resulting designs that are laser-focused and super effective in contributing to your OKRs. With the demand for marketing designers skyrocketing, my fast-paced, agile approach is just what you need!

Plus, I'm an entrepreneur myself. Everything you do is an investment, and I know how to make it worth your while.

3. What industries do you specialize in?

I'm your go-to designer for all things startup and tech. From e-commerce to healthcare, finance to tourism, I have the know-how to create design that converts. With my agile approach, I'm best suited for early to growth stage startups.

I'm always open to everyone, but it's my responsibility to set my boundaries. I wouldn't be ideal to work with companies or individuals who are solely focused on the artistic part and too obsessed with pixel perfectionism that doesn't bring impact to business efforts.

I hope everyone could understand that I came from a business perspective because I firmly believe that design is not art but a business tool, while art is a form of self-expression.

4. What differentiates your design approach?

No-nonsense approach! I take a no-BS approach to design. I combine creativity with strategic thinking and technical wizardry to make sure every design decision contributes to your business goals. With my background in visual communication design and years of experience working with marketing teams, you're in good hands. From user-centered design to performance-driven solutions, I'm all about designs that convert.

Having experienced burnout myself, I'm an advocate for working smarter, not harder. Let's make magic with design thinking together!

5. Who can use your services?

Anyone. Literally anyone. My on-demand design services are for everyone, whether you are an individual, a company, an agency, or a cat. Whether you are a solo entrepreneur, a founder, a marketer, a product manager, a fellow designer, my future husband, or whatever.

But there is a limitation for design subscriptions in which I can only offer these services directly to my clients.

6. I'm a recruiter, do you offer different rates?

Yes, I can offer you a different rate for a long-term partnership (applies to on-demand design services). Please reach out or schedule a call with me

7. I'm a fellow freelancer, can I book your services?

Of course, bestie! That's why I'm here. If you ever need some helping hands, my on-demand design services are there for you. But, you know the secret, I can only offer design subscriptions to direct clients.

8. I'm an agency, can I book you to work directly with my client?

Yes, you can use my on-demand design services to support your client's project. However, this does not apply to Design Subscriptions to avoid potential conflicts of interest.

9. Are commercial licenses included?

Absolutely! Commercial licenses are an integral part of my service offerings. Whether it's stock images, footage, music, graphics, fonts, or AI-generated images, I assure you that every element used in your designs is fully licensed and ready for commercial use. You can rest assured that all the visuals I provide are legally compliant, so you can use them with confidence in your marketing campaigns and branding efforts. Sit back and relax knowing that I got you completely covered!

10. What is your cancellation policy?

For subscription model clients: As this service is not yet rolled out, right now I'm looking for alpha clients for one month test phase. But the idea is, your subscription runs on a monthly cycle and you have the flexibility to cancel with 7 days notice before your next billing cycle.

For on-demand design services (Full-Day Design Rescue, Half-Day Intensive Care, and The Ultimate Design Wizardry): You may cancel your order at no charge up to 48 hours before the event. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the scheduled event are subject to a 50% fee.

For Hourly Priority Service customers: No cancellation is needed, even if you no longer wish to work with me. I know I will be sad to see you go, but I understand. You can simply ghost me like most Berliner men do. Unlike my exes, I want you to come back though...

11. What tools do you use?

I use a variety of tools to bring your creative vision to life, but for efficiency's sake, I prefer Figma for static assets, a variety of Adobe Creative Cloud applications, various video editors, plus native advertising tools such as AdCreativa and Offeo. With my experience, the tools don't matter anymore. Even if you ask me to design a poster in Microsoft Word, I won't be mad at you.

12. Will I get the original design file?

Original files are available upon request. It's important to specify your needs upfront. For example, if you request a static banner without mentioning the need for the original file, I'll choose the tool that allows me to work most efficiently, such as Figma. However, if you find out later that you need the design in a Photoshop or Canva format, there may be an additional charge due to the extra work required to convert the file.

To avoid unexpected fees: be upfront about your needs, and we'll make sure you're happy with the final deliverable.

13. What is the difference between visual designers and graphic designers?

Picture this: Graphic designers focus on making things look pretty. Visual designers, on the other hand, take it to the next level by involving the "brain" a.k.a the UX part of things. They're all about creating designs that not only look great but also work like a charm. Think of user-friendly interfaces and eye-catching visuals that make your brand pop. With me, you get the best of both worlds!

14. Is a visual designer also a user interface (UI) designer?

Yes, my profession is also known as a user interface designer. Typically, UI designers work closely with product managers and developers to create digital products. My expertise lies in integrated brand and marketing communications strategy. I collaborate more often with marketing managers than with product managers. Therefore, the term "visual designer" more closely describes the scope of my work, bridging the gap between the product and marketing departments. This translates easily to: I understand how to craft creative assets for different target audiences, depending on where they are in the overall customer journey.

15. Do you offer artistic services?

Sorry, bestie! I'm all about performance-driven design, not Picasso-level artistry. But if you like my personal taste in pinky, cutesy digital art, let's talk. Otherwise, I'm all about design that makes money for your business. I am THAT b**** designer who makes it rain!

16. Do you offer brand design?

While many may call it "brand design," I prefer to keep it real and focus on what really matters: logo design. Let me break it down the misconception for you. In the past, I've designed numerous corporate identities, complete with those fancy brand guidelines. But let's face it, after 5, 10, 14 years, what's still in use? The logo...nobody flips through those brand guidelines unless you're a giant brand like Airbnb.

No offense to my designer fellas out there, but I've found branding to be a bit impractical these days. A logo is like a face; it's what people see and recognize. The brand, on the other hand, is the sum of a company's entire identity, far beyond the visual. Sure, we can create the most sophisticated brand guidelines, but the reality is that a brand evolves over time. Its value isn't determined by what's in a book. It's about how it resonates with your audience, how it grows with your business, and how it reflects your values and mission.

So let's keep it simple and focus on what really matters - creating a logo. Need to understand the requirements for trademark registration? I've got you covered. Need a smooth brand or rebrand rollout? I'm here for you, bestie!

17. Why are there cats everywhere? How many cats do you have????

I like digital cats, but I don't have any. I don't even like cats anymore. I had a cat as a child, her name was Keti. Space, rockets, astronauts and cats are childhood interests that strangely resurfaced when I was battling burnout.

Now, I summon those cute cats everywhere, partly as self-expression to spread joy, and partly for strategic reasons. Those cats got your attention, didn't they? #strategicdesign 😽🧑‍🚀🚀🪐

18. Girl, are you serious about this Dutch husband thing?

Yes, I am. Dating in Berlin is hard, bestie! it's even harder if you are a nerd like me. If you can set me up with your eligible bachelor friend who will be my future husband (preferably Dutch), you can choose between free design services or free food forever.

Of course, you and your +1 will be the guests of honor at our wedding in Bali 🌴🌊🥥

Terms and conditions apply, though, because I'm picky.
